Evil Twin Brewing Yin & Yang

Evil Twin Brewing Yin & Yang from USA There's a reason why Asians for millennia have touted the need for balance between our yin side and our yang side.  I doubt there's a single reason in any literature that relates to beer. If I were a cocky young man bent on seducing an Asian female well versed in the ethos of the yin and yang, this beer's name might start a pleasant conversation, and its alcohol content would finish it.

There's a reason why Asians for millennia have touted the need for balance between our yin side and our yang side.  I doubt there's a single reason in any literature that relates to beer.

Until Evil Twin.  Evil Twin calls this a sublime Taiji balance, a quintessential Black & Tan, which is usually a mix of a porter or stout with a pale ale.   Evil Twin mixes 33% of an 'evil' Imperial stout (= a stout high in alcohol) with a "flippant good Imperial IPA."  The stout is the Yin; the IPA, the yang.   And I should state that this literal in this case.  Evil Twin actually brews a beer called Yin, the Imperial stout, and Yang, the Imperial IPA.

The 10% ABV in the Yang on its own was too strong.  Mixed together with the Yin, it goes down a little smoother.  And yes, it is the perfect balance -- if by balance you mean not being able to keep yours after sipping a bottle or two.

If I were a cocky young man bent on seducing an Asian female well versed in the ethos of the yin and yang, this beer's name might start a pleasant conversation, and its alcohol content would finish it.  Whether the evening was consensual would depend upon how much she remembered.
