Birra del Borgo ReAle
Posted: 20 May 2015  Beer Republic 7.5
Birra del Borgo ReAle from Italy Birra del Borgo started out with founder Leonard Di Vincenzo home brewing, like many brewery founders do, and then deciding to turn that hobby into a lucrative income. Their bottles are unusual and resemble fine wines, cognacs, or scotches.   Good thing, too, because by the time the beer arrives in the country you're living in, you'll be paying the equivalent of a much larger bottle of wine for it.
Avg price/liter: USD 14.69   ABV %: 6.4  Type: IPA

Birra del Borgo started out with founder Leonard Di Vincenzo home brewing, like many brewery founders do, and then deciding to turn that hobby into a lucrative income.  He claims he traveled to Germany and Belgium to learn about old brewing styles and innovation and then journeyed to the UK to taste real ales.  In 2005, he brought this newfound knowledge to Borgorose      Birra del Borgo teamed up with some other players since to open brewpubs, one, in fact, in New York City.

Their bottles are unusual and resemble fine wines, cognacs, or scotches.   Good thing, too, because by the time the beer arrives in the country you're living in, you'll be paying the equivalent of a much larger bottle of wine for it.

Their signature brew, the ReAle, a play on words of real and ale,  is billed as an American Pale Ale.  Its taste and brewing style make it more like an IPA.

It's a taste you could grow quite accustomed to and gives you an excuse to drink a beer with your pizza.   Viva L'Italia!
