Review: Birra del Borgo ReAle Extra
Birra del Borgo ReAle Extra
Posted: 22 May 2015
ReAle Extra's extra is the added hops. Three times the
hops, added in the last ten minutes of the boiling stages.
Overall, I'd say here that less is more.
Avg price/liter: USD 14.69

Birra del Borgo's ReAle
Extra from Italy isn't, as you might think, their ReAle formula brewed
with extra alcohol. That's so passe.
ReAle Extra's extra is the
added hops. Three times the hops, added in the last
ten minutes of the boiling stages, which makes ReAle Extra
80% more bitter than Birra del Borgo's signature ReAle.
ReAle is a good brew.
I am not surprised that ReAle's unique bottle and taste has
put Birra del Borgo on the map and gotten the brewery in bed
with more established and longer living breweries like Dogfish
Head. The question then is to ask yourself is if three
times the extra hops makes the brew three (or even two or
one-and-a-half) times better.
Overall, I'd say here that
less is more. Want real ale? Get ReAle.
It's hoppy enough. If you're a hops addict, you should
probably be entering an addiction program instead of
drinking ReAle Extra.
