Two Tales Brewing Bohemian Black Ale
Posted: 5 July 2015  Beer Republic 7.5
Two Tales Brewing Bohemian Black Ale from Czech Republic I suppose the Czech Republic is caught up in the craft brewing revolution just like everywhere else, inspiring a Czech-born Canadian and an American, now residents in Prague, to establish Two Tales.  The Bohemian Black Ale was a good first taste. My brother thought it tasted like s--t. There you go.  Two tales from the same family.
Avg price/liter: USD 4.38   ABV %: 6.5  Type: Ale

The Czechs are the biggest beer drinkers per capita in the world.  Soda and bottled water are cheaper than beer in the Czech Republic.

Mainstream Czech beer is meant to be pretty good, obviating, you'd think, the need for craft brewers to fill the void, but I suppose the Czech Republic is caught up in the craft brewing revolution just like everywhere else, inspiring a Czech-born Canadian and an American, now residents in Prague, to establish Two Tales.

I won't even go into what the "two tales" are, because Two Tales Brewing doesn't. They allude that the tales could be anything from an old Bohemian King granting brewing rights, the story of the two founders, or brewing artistry in the Czech Republic. Or it could be me saying that one of their cats was probably born genetically mutated and had two tails.

My brother was in the Czech Republic as I first sampled a Two Tales and I told him to search for the beers himself. They take some searching to find in Prague. Two Tales made it easier to find them in Thailand. A friend of the founders must have decamped to Thailand and setup the Two Tales Trading Company to import the nascent beer.

Does it matter?

The Bohemian Black Ale was a good first taste, very different from the Brewdog Libertine Black Ale I enjoyed days earlier.  This Black Ale is much lighter in hops and not at all like an IPA.

My brother thought it tasted like s--t.   I didn't.  There you go.  Two tales from the same family.
