Floris Passion Fruit

Floris Passion Fruit from Belgium The familiar passion fruit flavor we all know and love is actually the sweetened passion fruit version. Since I can't get carbonated passion fruit soda, I can see myself reaching for a Floris Passion Fruit beer on a hot summer's day.  And rarely when you reach for soda are you reaching for perfection.

I liked but did not love Floris Mango from Belgium.  How would Floris Passion Fruit fare in the Beer Republic?

There is one big difference between fresh passion fruit and passion fruit juice.  Real passion fruits are tart and not very sweet.  The familiar passion fruit flavor we all know and love is actually the sweetened passion fruit version.

And so, what we get here, is the sweetened passion fruit version, when probably a less sweetened version would have sufficed.  The passion fruit seems to come off better in the wheat beer base than the mango.

Passion fruit soda and passion fruit juice aren't the most common beverages.  I never make passion fruit juice smoothies.  The interior of a passion fruit looks like gelatinous mash of pulp and seeds, and unlike mango, it's not sweet.  So, since I can't get carbonated passion fruit soda, I can see myself reaching for a Floris Passion Fruit beer on a hot summer's day.  And rarely when you reach for soda are you reaching for perfection.
