Chapeau Peche

Chapeau Peche from Belgium The first sip of this peach lambic wasn't the equivalent of biting into a liquid peach pie.  De Troch Brewery lets the sour flavors come through loud and clear.  This is a drink that will require a half a bottle to get used to, and I doubt you'll be reaching for a second.

I got off to an extremely sour start with Chapeau, after sipping their banana lambic.

But I never make a conclusion about a brewery or brand based on only one beer -- unless one beer is all they have.  So I flushed out my mouth with various cleansing agents and popped open a bottle of Chapeau Peche, their peach lambic in the series.

Chapeau must not be using as much sugar for sweetening as their lambic competitor Van Honsebrouck in their St Louis line of lambics. The first sip of this peach lambic wasn't the equivalent of biting into a liquid peach pie.  You're accustomed to a certain sweetness there.  Not here. De Troch Brewery lets the sour flavors come through loud and clear.

Which isn't a bad thing.  Peach has long been used in sour drink cocktail recipes. Peaches can be naturally sour.  So having a sour peach lambic didn't detract from the taste, like it did with the banana.

Still, I am sure you're used to the sweeter peach side of things, and this is a drink that will require a half a bottle to get used to, and I doubt you'll be reaching for a second.
