Floris Apple

Floris Apple from Belgium The apple ciders I've been sampling on the Beer Republic have not been all that phenomenal.  They have an apple cider + sugar taste. If the next few ciders I sample here make me retch, I'll have to give some serious consideration to dropping apple cider from my alcohol selection and substitute Floris Apple fruit beer instead.

I like a hard apple cider as much as the next guy, but the apple ciders I've been sampling on the Beer Republic have not been all that phenomenal.  They have an apple cider + sugar taste.  They don't taste like natural apple cider fermented into a delicious alcoholic beverage that makes me feel I'm prancing among someone's apple orchards on a summer's day.

And so, when it came time to try Floris Apple fruit beer, I delighted in the change.  Just because this is an apple fruit beer vs an apple cider doesn't necessarily mean it won't be sweetened with enough sugar to turn any healthy man into a diabetic.  I just felt there was less chance of that happening with this having a Belgian wheat beer base.

Floris Apple didn't disappoint.  As I popped it open, the stepson remarked that the kitchen became enrobed in an aroma of apples.  There was a distinctive and sharp apple taste, but it was covered up some, as was any superfluous sweetness, by the hops and barley from the beer.

If the next few ciders I sample here make me retch, I'll have to give some serious consideration to dropping apple cider from my alcohol selection and substitute Floris Apple fruit beer instead.  There are worse things one can do . . .
