Monggo Caramello Even if you consider yourself a caramel cream addict, the addition of that cream to this chocolate is not going to alter your paradigm of life, love, and the greater meaning of the universe.

I provided full disclosure how my life intersected with Chocolate Monggo in my review of the company's Dark bar. Within hours of tossing the Dark's wrapper in the trash bin, I reached for this Caramello bar.

The Caramello contains the same 58% dark chocolate base as the first bar I sampled, a bar I liked but did not love and which brought more than a few tears when I counted out the Indonesian rupiah to pay for it.   Normally, I do not prefer my chocolates plain.  I want something within them.  It could be cashew nuts, rum and raisins, peanuts, rice crisps, or even caramel. I was hoping that after digesting the first bar from Chocolate Monggo, this caramel stuffed bar would bring back the rosiness to my cheeks and a spring to my step.

Here's the problem.   The name Caramello is so closely identified with Cadbury's chocolate stuffed with caramel.  The name brought on that association.  But the label and my taste buds sampled caramel cream.  Caramel cream is not your typical chocolate filling.  I'm sure Chocolate Monggo is filling their bars with the finest quality caramel cream known to Indonesian man.  Well, if I informed you I was stuffing your crepes with the finest quality organic cow turds, would you be more eager to try them? The result is not an improvement over the bar filled with nothing. I think I'm being kind by not docking any more points.

I'll admit I'm biased.   I don't like cream in my chocolates.  Moreover, I don't like cream in my chocolate when there's some promise of getting caramel.  It's like being slapped in the face twice.

Even if you consider yourself a caramel cream addict, the addition of that cream to this chocolate is not going to alter your paradigm of life, love, and the greater meaning of the universe.  Chocolate Monggo Caramello remains a guilty craving for the well-heeled Indonesian or thrill-seeking tourist.  All others proceed with caution.
