Australia has its own version of Nestle dark chocolate in the name of Nestle Club, Australian chocolate at its unfinest. Dark chocolate contains polyphenol antioxidants, and Nestle Club cashew nut and cherry has lots of delicious cherry and cashew nut flavor. Nestle Club Cashew Nut & Cherry

Nestle Club Cashew Nut Cherry The Cashew Nut & Cherry is a treat -- if and when you can find this bar at a deeply discounted sale price. At the typical price we list on this web site, the pairing of fake cherries with miserly portions of cashew nuts isn't enough of a draw to get you to buy this over something better.

In the review for Nestle Club's Roasted Almond, I summarized the bar as being a decent pick when you could get it on sale.  Nestle Club's Cashew Nut & Cherry is a bit of a different animal.  Here's why.

The Roasted Almond bar is competing in a market filled with other roasted almond bars.  One can do an apples-for-apples (or almonds-for-almonds) comparison.  Nestle alters the playing field with this one.   It's got the same 45% cocoa content as their Roasted Almond, but the combination of cashew nuts and cherries makes it harder to compare to other brands' standard cashew nut bar offerings.

Because on paper, Nestle would get its heinie kicked.   Cashew nut pieces only comprise 4.5% of the bar.  Compare that to Whittaker's which crams in 27%.  The inspiration for this bar is the addition of red cherry pieces.  And guess what?  They're not even 100% real cherries!  They're made from red cherry puree (1.4%), apple puree, pear puree, sugar, preservatives, gelling acids, etc.  No "we only use the finest and most natural ingredients" for the Nestle Club range, but you already knew that.

If you can get past the idea that your cherries are a frankenfood and just taste the resultant combination, you'll be impressed.   The little pieces taste like what we would imagine sweet ripe cherries to taste like.  Along with the skimpy cashew nut content and mulatto-like chocolate, you won't be disappointed.

But the same conditions apply to this bar as they did to the Roasted Almond.   The Cashew Nut & Cherry is a treat -- if and when you can find this bar at a deeply discounted sale price.  At the typical price we list on this web site, the pairing of fake cherries with miserly portions of cashew nuts isn't enough of a draw to get you to buy this over something better.
