Review: Chocovic Nayarit

Nayarit is probably made with the finest cocoas, perhaps far finer than their competition, explaining the much higher price, but there's no law in the books that says premium ingredients alone produce the best tasting final product.

French restaurants do this all the time. They'll
put a cracker and a snail on your plate and charge you USD

Chocovic, on the other hand, can't produce the
blow-your-brains-out quality at these prices. Why
would you lay out these prices to buy something that tasted
I've tasted other brands who,
with 35-36% cocoa solids, can make their milk bars taste
very rich indeed. Whittaker's is one such brand that
brings out the flavor from their roasting with only 33%.

It took me three days to get
through this tiny 73 gram bar. I tried offering it to
friends, even my cat, highlighting how expensive the bar
was. The friends and my cat tried a small piece, then
they trotted to 7-11 for a bottom-of-the-barrel Malyasian-made
Van Houten milk chocolate bar they purchased for less than a
third of the price per gram. My cat bit me later for
trying to pass off expensive substandard products to her.
I wouldn't write this brand
off. No one starts a chocolate school in Europe and
runs it successfully for 15 years without knowing what
they're doing. But I would write this bar off.
Don't let yourself get milked with this milk.
Spain has Chocovic Selvaticas as a bar. It's Spanish chocolate, milk chocolate, with 37% cocoa solids. Like milk chocoalte?
