Dove Crispy

Dove Crispy Why build this bar up to be more than it is. It's a tasty milk chocolate bar with crispy rice, nothing more, nothing less. The chocolate is not crafted from a legendary Swiss recipe which goes back 100 years. I'd bet this recipe isn't older than the first iPhone 3G's.

Dove Crispy sounds like it could be another menu choice on a Kentucky Fried Chicken menu:  "Would you like your dove original, spicy, or extra crispy, sir?"

Crispy is just fine when it comes to this type of dove.  When Dove introduced its Chinese-made chocolate bar line to Thailand, the Dove Crispy is the first Dove bar I tried.  At the time, the local 7-11''s were only selling the Crispy and the fruit & nut variety.  Not partial to fruit & nuts, I selected the Crispy and was not disappointed.

The Crispy is Dove's version of a Nestle's Crunch, crispy rice in milk chocolate.  With 15% cocoa mass and 10% cocoa butter, this bar is superior to the Crunch bars of my youth in terms of taste and crunchiness.  It's also superior to a recent tasting, the Lotte Crunky, a similar bar mass produced in Korea with higher cocoa solid content.

Why build this bar up to be more than it is.  It's a tasty milk chocolate bar with crispy rice, nothing more, nothing less.  The chocolate is not crafted from a legendary Swiss recipe which goes back 100 years.  I'd bet this recipe isn't older than the first iPhone 3G's.  The bar is a respectable lower end crispy rice concoction.  No one's going to be ashamed to be caught eating one.   Back when I was a kid, I remember being forced by my school to sell a mediocre local chocolate manufacturer's rice crispy bars.  For the mid 1980's, they weren't cheap, and if you snacked on one, you had to pay full price.  No discounts for the salesman.   Dove Crispy isn't pretending to be a premium crispy bar like the "premium" manufacturer of my youth, and as such, they're delivering exactly what they don't promise.   Enjoy!
