Review: Villars Milk Chocolate
Vilars Milk Chocolate

The bar is creamy, smooth, and chocolatey, a solid pick. Villars proves once again that they're like that trustworthy guy in the office, a solid performer who always gets the job done satisfactorily and on time without doing anything unexpected or innovative.

Villars Milk Chocolate was my
third experience with the Swiss operation based out of the
French-speaking town of Fribourg.
When I purchased this
chocolate bar, I knew I'd tried Villars in my past but could
not remember which bar(s) I'd purchased. Biting into
this 33% milk chocolate bar with 23% milk solids, my taste
buds remembered having traversed this ground before.
That's because the praline bar I first sampled was composed
of the same 33% milk chocolate base.
The bar is creamy, smooth,
and chocolatey, a solid pick. Villars proves once
again that they're like that trustworthy guy in the office,
a solid performer who always gets the job done
satisfactorily and on time without doing anything unexpected
or innovative. Lindt is better known but more
controversial. They make a wider range of bars,
some which definitely miss, and their ingredients can be
shoddy (artificial flavors, vegetable fats) for a company
boasting of its premium. Villars never boasts that
they're top of the line, and they won't get you thinking
they're bottom of the line either by putting in some of
those dealkillers that have lessened my opinion of Lindt
Villars isn't some new
posterboy for Swiss quality chocolate. I've met those
their whole marketing campaigns are designed around the
chocolate being from Switzerland. Villars has been
around since 1901 and their range of offerings appears to be
much broader than what you would assume from visiting the
marketplace. Their big shtick in Switzerland nowadays
is their exotic brandy and liqueur bars. I
have yet to see these bars on any Asian supermarket shelf.
It could be that after I tried these more challenging bars,
I'll revise my opinion of Villars from solid co-worker to
invaluable team member. For now, I'll consider their
products an old acquaintance I never mind running into.
Fribourg in Switzerland is home of the Villars company, makers of adequate Swiss chocolate. The Swss Villars Milk Chocolate
is found worldwide. Recently Doug tried the Villars milk chocolate. The chocolate republic
welcomed Villars milk chocolate in and Doug of Doug's Republic said it was okay
