Moonstruck Milk Chocolate Mayan
Posted: 8 November 2011    8.5
Moon Milk Chocolate Mayan Moonstruck combines cinnamon with diced almonds roasted in safflower oil, an uplifting inspired combination if I do say so myself. I did sneak a bite, then another, then another. And I'd replenish the stash often if I lived in Oregon and had access to these bars.

Finally.  An American chocolate company that's honest.   Moonstruck warns us on the back of this Milk Chocolate Mayan that the bar is "so alluring.  Sneak a bite whenever possible.  Appear innocent at all costs.  Replenish your stash often."   That's more insightful than anything the last five U.S. Presidents have said.

Before biting into this, I thought the Milk Chocolate Mayan was just Moonstruck's fancy name for their milk chocolate bar.  No, Mayan is a flavor combination here.   Moonstruck combines cinnamon with diced almonds roasted in safflower oil, an uplifting inspired combination if I do say so myself.  I did sneak a bite, then another, then another.  And I'd replenish the stash often if I lived in Oregon and had access to these bars.

What can I really say about Moonstruck?  They're not using organic or fair trade chocolate.  The flavors don't invoke any imagery of Oregon.  Moonstruck just happens to be a smallish boutique chocolate maker based in Oregon that delivers decent products at reasonable premium prices.  Moonstruck is nothing more than that and nothing less.

And that's all I ask, folks.  Burma Mike's box loads of American chocolates from the West Coast had jaded me.  Many of the bars were acceptable, but not incredible.  I wanted my palate shaken, not stirred.  Moonstruck Milk Chocolate Mayan came around at just the right time to shake me awake.

Moonstruck alleges that the Mayans loved chocolate so much that they fought over it. This is a bar worth fighting for -- if you can find it.
